BG USA 1994In U.S. history have recorded two memorable moment: Brazil won a fourth title and to achieve it, won his first world final, ended after a scoreless draw at the end of overtime, and settled on penalties. FIFA introduced radical measures in the effort to improve the quality of play: Three points for victory in the first phase of the championship, facilitated offside rule (under which no wait, if the attacker is in line with the last or the last two defenders the opponent), strict penalties for tripping back and generally rough play, and last – injured players will be exported from the site immediately. But viewed from the positive side, the changes also bring and to 141 goals in 52 matches – an average of 2.71 per game, which is a significant improvement compared to Italy 1990. Favorite in Group A was undoubtedly inspired by Romania striker Gheorghe Hagi. Well-organized Swiss are ranked second and Colombia, which is also one of the favorites, playing without heart and whatever has been thought and is eliminated. Imperative favorites in Group B are Brazilians and they do not disappoint their colorful and noisy supporters. Strength of Brazil is a wonderful partnership and Romario baby. USA 1994 – Qualifications and Introduction

December 1st, 2013

Stoichkov 94In 1988, FIFA decided 15th World Cup (1994) to be held in the U.S., ignoring the applications of Morocco and Brazil. This choice surprised many who believe that the United States has very little football fans and stadiums would remain half empty. Subsequently, the facts contradict these opinions. Place a record attendance of football matches (3600000 people), who now, after playing three more world championships and an increase in the number of participants is not improved. The format of holding the tournament remains the same as in 1990 – 24 th participant, divided into six groups of four. Sixteen teams qualify for the next stage – winners of the group, second highest and the four best third team. Winners in second round play in the quarter, the winners play in the quarterfinals of the semifinals. Losers of the semifinals play match for third place winners – finish. When equality of direct elimination matches are played in double overtime fifteen minutes and again if there is no winner it is followed by penalty shootout. The same rule applies for the finals. This format is used for the last time, as participants in 1998 were increased to 32 teams. At USA 1994 came into operation for the first time the new scoring system, where victory is given three points, rather than the two, and equality – one. This gives a higher value of the victory, and renders equality as a strategic result.
147 teams compete in qualifying rounds for the World Cup 1994. Are 22 vacant seats out of 24 because the U.S. and Germany are ranked by law – the first country to host, and the second as defending world champion title.

Herbalife: The Source of the Dream Team?

November 5th, 2013

RonaldoWhen we scour through the biggest sponsorship deals in sport, most people are quick to assume that the likes of Puma and Adidas are the big players. Unsurprisingly, this is pretty accurate, with both of these brands leading the way with some lucrative sponsorship deals.

However, one that a lot of people forget is Herbalife. The international nutritional supplier has caused quite a storm over recent years with its supplements, which are proving to transform the ways in which athletes approach sports from a nutritional point of view. There are now countless stores where you can find a range of Herbalife products and this just highlights how much success the company are experiencing. In a bid to emphasise their message, the company have sourced some of the best teams and players in the world to endorse their products. Here, we showcase some of the biggest stars…

Cristiano Ronaldo

Regarded by some as the best player in world football, Cristiano Ronaldo is unquestionably the crown in the Herbalife endorsements catalogue. The Real Madrid forward, who was up until recently the most expensive football player in the world, has broken countless records on the field and has also established some lucrative contracts off it. In fact, you could say that Herbalife has helped him substantially with both, with his trademark chiselled body most probably aided by the effects of the nutritional supplements. Herbalife’s own marketing material shows Ronaldo with one of their protein shake models and considering his physique, this certainly isn’t surprising.

Five Ways to Prevent the Typical Running Injuries

November 4th, 2013

Germany 1974It would be fair to say that the country is more health conscious than ever before and unfortunately, the by-product of this is that more sporting injuries are also occurring. Even those individuals who simply embark on a quiet jog before work can be affected, and it happens to be the runners that we’ll be concentrating on through the remainder of this article.

As you can see through this piece, there are countless ways in how that simple jog can lead to an almost life-changing injury. We’ll now detail some of the methods in which you can prevent such conditions occurring.

Be a fair weather runner

It might take a while for you to take your exercise seriously, but once a lot of people get there it’s really difficult to stop. However, if the weather dictates otherwise, don’t be afraid to have a day off. Training in excessive temperatures can cause all sorts of problems – some of which can prove to be very dangerous. Alternatively, heavy rain or snow is another one that you should tend to avoid, with this increasing the risk of slipping.

Invest in decent equipment

The old phrase “a good workman never blames his tools” is often attributed to sport, but when it comes to running you should invest in the best equipment your budget allows. This is particularly relevant to footwear and if you stick to the running clothes from legendary brand Adidas or any of the other big manufacturers, you shouldn’t have any problems. It’s when you venture over to lesser-known brands, or opt for footwear that simply isn’t designed to cope with rigorous activity, that problems occur. Blisters are probably the most common, although anything from shin splints to Achilles tendinitis can be caused by inappropriate trainers.

Cave into the sports drink marketing spiel

You might sometimes think that all of the adverts marketing sports drinks are simply trying to make you spend money on something else to supplement your exercise, but that’s not entirely the case. They do replace the electrolytes that you lose through sweating, while they can also help to hydrate you. Of course, if you are really opposed to investing in them, water will suffice and will take care of the primary task of hydration. If you’re about to embark on a long run, perhaps consider one of those bottle holders that strap onto your body.

Don’t be afraid to put your feet up

From time to time you must give your body a rest. If you can feel an injury occurring, put your feet up the next day. Alternatively, if you’ve been training non-stop for the past ten days, it’s definitely time to take a break. Not only will you put your body under excessive stress, but you’ll also run the risk of psychologically burning out.

Dabble in several exercises

Some of the injuries that have been touched upon through this piece are related to overuse – where you simply place too much emphasis on a particular set of muscles. To avoid this, don’t be afraid to dabble in several sports at a time. Perhaps consider going on your standard run one day, but switching to a bike ride the next. This will ensure that you use different muscles, whilst still staying active.

After Dinner Speaking: The Sports Person’s Typical Second Career?

November 4th, 2013

Stoichkov HristoFor most modern-day Premiership football players (or any sports person for that matter), the issue of a second career will never arise. Those that do consider it will most likely be contemplating a career in coaching or management – not something that is completely outside of the game.

However, several years ago when money did not rule sports quite as much, most professionals had to keep an open mind on which path to take next. While few were on the brink of going broke at this point, many opted for the after dinner speaking industry in a bid to profit on the reputation they had forged during their playing days. This blog post will now take a look at some of these sports men and women who take to after dinner speaking to highlight just how common it has become for those who have now hung up their boots.

Shane Warne

If you want to bring a touch of colour, and quite possibly a risqué element to your dinner, then former Australian cricketer Shane Warne could be your man. Regarded as one of the best spin bowlers of all time, Warne was a constant thorn in the side of the English batsmen although he also had an off-the-field reputation that made him loved by many. He regularly hit the press for all of the reasons a cricketer shouldn’t and considering his exuberant personality, don’t be surprised if he demonstrates such characteristics in front of your audience and keeps them thoroughly entertained throughout the night.

Colin Montgomerie

At the other end of the scale we have Colin Montgomerie, the Scottish golfer who will largely be remembered for his Ryder Cup exploits. In comparison to Warne, there’s no doubt that ‘Monty’ is a much more sombre character although having contested with some of the world’s best he will most certainly have more than the one story to tell from the golf course.

Ian Wright

If you want someone who’s right in between the above two personalities, Ian Wright is probably your man. He showed all of the swagger of Warne when he ventured onto a football field, while his confident and entertaining style netted him various television presenter roles. All of this came without the front page headlines that were regularly attributed to Warne – meaning that he can be the ideal candidate for some events.

Lawrence Dallaglio

The fact that Lawrence Dallaglio was a member of that historic 2003 Rugby World Cup winning squad will be sufficient to cement his invite for most events. While he had surrendered the captaincy at that point, he was the only man to play every single minute of that competition. Additionally, having played in most major tournaments from 1995 until 2008, he will have more than his fair share of anecdotes to recall. Anyone who has read his autobiography will be fully aware that he is more than happy to reveal the intricate ins and outs of his playing career, so get him in front of a live audience and the show could be explosive!

Football fitness and tricks

September 2nd, 2013

FootballThe modern professional footballers are using a lot of medicaments to play on the level we expect to see them. One of the most discussed compound, which can be found in the football club’s pharmacy is the triptorelin. It is anticancer medicament, a synthetic analogue of gonadotropin-releasing hormone. The triptorelin is included in the list of Essential Medicines and works on the basic of direct effect over the gonads and decreasing the sensitivity of the peripheral receptors to the effects of GnRH. After a short time the chemical compound inhibits the secretion of FSH, LH, and the function of the testes and ovaries. This reduces the value of testosterone into the blood and helps for fat burning and muscles growing. Such compounds are used in the early stages of professional practicing sports and mostly football. The clubs are preparing their footballers and inserting them the hormone from the very early age, to hide it from the community and testings. The triptorelin is good way to stimulate the growth and muscles training, which is mandatory for each sportsman and footballer. The triptorelin can be found in different forms, such as subcutaneous injection, lyophilized for suspension for intramuscular depot, lyophilisate for suspension for intramuscular and subcutaneous. The football training schools give it to the young players with food and drinks, helping to increase their fitness and muscles faster.
